MY DEFINITION OF EDUCTION TECHNOLOGY
Educational Technology is the development of an individual or a group of people to become technologically incline. This also enhances learning through the use of the media for social aspect. Educational Technology create an avenue for the society to help and make work easier for everyone.
PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy for using technology in teaching and learning is that is very important in today's society. Our country has now become a society where technology is a key factor to our everyday life. There are different types of learners with different learning domain, technology in teaching and learning will help to facilitate the different types of learners. Using technology to teach learning will develop the knowledge of each individual, it will help with thinking skills, as well as critical and creative thinking. However even though technology in teaching and learning is important as it relates to power point presentation, windows etc. there should be some amount of fun apply to the learner which allows to learner to be comfortable in the his/her learning environment.
THE ISSUE OF EQUITY AND ACCESS IN RELATION TO TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION.
The issue of equity and access in relation to technology integration is to providing students with access to high quality educational resources that will enable every individual in the society to become literate. Our society has now become advance in technology, however not everyone has an access to technology. It is very important to include teaching technology in our schools but not every schools the students have an access to this kind of resource. In our society and schools were technology is integrated it is evident that people are more engaged in learning and are motivated to learn because of the fun the technology brings. I believe that credit and thanks should be extended to the schools that provided computers to students and teacher. With all this there is a problem in our education system, in some classes their is a slow learner and a fast learner, some of our teachers do not want to spend sufficient time with the slow learners which in my personal opinion is a major problem as is relates to equity in the society.
MY LEARNING EXPERIENCE
As I reflect on my learning experience from primary school to present, I realize that I am a Kinesthetic learner, one who prefer to learn by direct experience rather than what is said or read. However because of this I would consider myself to be a slow learner back then from the age of 6-12 (from grade 1-6). Due to the fact that I was behind in my classes. I started to look deeply inside myself then I found out my strength. I then realized that I was very good practically so at Grade 6 I started playing cricket for my school. My Mathematics and English teacher then realized that I was that type of person and started to put the work to me in a game situation for me to learn. Science and Social Study was natural to me because they are basically practical to my leaning ability.
I was then introduce to a practice teacher for private lesson. This was really a stepping stone for me, she was a woman that was very much like me growing up so she used a lot of practical issue and situation to teach me. I was then successful in my GSAT and went to the Ocho Rios High School. At this time I was much more mature and came to realization and the importance of learning so I started to develop a new way of learning.
Even though the kinesthetic is still the dominant way of my learning, I develop also the auditory style of learning. Listening also help me to remember, speaking and in class with lectures and interaction with my class mates is now a main way of learning development. Today I can safely say that the constructivism theories is a key to my learning development. Explore, nature, and self actualization as help me a lot.
